‘Everybody loves a hot dog.’ That was the inspiration for the new Soul Dog restaurant on Main Street. And now, at Soul Dog, everybody can eat the hot dogs. That is – even people who have food allergies and dietary restrictions can now bite into a juicy hot dog with all the trimmings.

The owners, Jenny and Adam Teague, have firsthand experience with the frustration of trying to eat out when you have food allergies. Frustration became inspiration when they determined they could offer the community a unique dining option in the comfort of a neighborhood eatery.

With the help of friends and family the owners remodeled a former bagel shop into a warm and cheerful space where you can enjoy spending time as well as eating.

They selected the hot dog for its universal appeal -- ‘Everybody loves a hot dog’ -- and family friendly price.

Sabrett’s beef, Applegate’s natural chicken, and Yves’ Veggie dogs are offered piled high with homemade toppings expertly applied by Jenny’s husband and hot dog enthusiast, Adam. Some favorite combos are soul sauce and caramelized onions or spicy peanut sauce with cucumbers and scallions. Jenny recommends a dog topped with cole slaw and Soul Sauce.

Besides hot dogs, the menu includes hand cut seasoned fries, chilis, soups and sandwiches-- and decadent desserts beckon from the counter. All are made fresh on site, with gluten-free options available.

Since opening it’s doors September 2004, they have won many happy regulars. Jenny says, ”We’re incredibly pleased that people are so enthusiastic about what we’re doing. It seems like every one knows someone with a food allergy and we have something mouthwatering to offer those folks.” As well as everyone else of course!
